SETT REVIEWS: THE GOLDEN GLOBES
Whenever an awards show rolls around, it gives us at Sett a lot to discuss. Whose suit did we like best and why? What trends does this show? Will we see customers inspired by these suits in our made-to-measure consultations? Here we have noted our standout suits for you to look at, with a few honourable mentions at the end.
MICHAEL B. JORDAN:
A clear standout amongst the team was the rich brown double-breasted Prada suit worn by Michael B. Jordan. This suit offered a modern take on classic black tie. The extra wide peak lapel gives the suit added flair and theatricality, while the pale shirt provides the colour of the suit a rich depth. The whole outfit is topped off to perfection with the accessory of the season: a brooch. Adorning many outfits at the Golden Globes, this brooch draws attention to those bold lapels and brightens the suit.
This brown seems to be a popular colour choice, with Thomas Cocquerel also showcasing it within his Belance suit. Once again, pairing it with a pale shirt and eye-catching brooch.
CONNOR STORRIE:
Wearing St Laurent, Connor Storrie is another suit we loved at Sett. This suit’s baggy wide leg and single-breasted jacket demonstrates a shape that is currently popular among designers. The satin lapels show an element of traditional black tie, but the overall look is made more contemporary with the use of accessories: a skinny black tie, retro sunglasses and of course, a brooch.
ADAM BRODY:
Adam Brody is next on our list, wearing something a little different. The Borders’ check jacket was not a typical sight on the red carpet. However, this look adds something unique to the classical look of black satin bow tie and black trousers. Something we loved at Sett was the versatility of the outfit, with each item working as its own standalone piece. The jacket could be worn casually over another pair of trousers, while the black trousers could be paired with something also more casual like a knitted jumper.
HONOURABLE MENTIONS:
Next up, our list of honourable mentions. These guys all went for something that little bit different and executed it to perfection.
Omar Apollo- A look that blends retro shapes with bold colour and texture.
Seth Rogan- A display of how separate pieces can come together to create a cohesive look.
Owen Cooper- While not a suit, this look shows the effectiveness of a monochromatic look.
These looks at the Golden Globes demonstrate how to follow the latest trends while inserting your own personality into your look. Are there any of these suits that you would want to wear? Who was your best dressed at the Globes?
