Frequently Asked Questions
Bespoke tailoring means having a suit made just for you — from scratch, based on your exact measurements and preferences. If you’re looking to buy a suit in Glasgow that fits perfectly and reflects your style, bespoke is the way to go.
It starts with a consultation where we discuss your style, fabric, and fit preferences. We take detailed measurements and create a unique design just for you. If you’re looking to buy a bespoke suit in Glasgow, this is where your journey begins.
A bespoke suit is crafted with you in mind — not mass-produced. It’s designed, cut, and sewn just for you, giving unmatched comfort and style. That’s why so many customers choose bespoke when buying a suit in Glasgow.
It usually takes 8-10 weeks from your first fitting to your finished suit. We take the time to get every detail right. If you’re planning to buy a suit in Glasgow for an event, we recommend starting early. Faster turnaround may be possible — please just ask.
From rich tweeds to lightweight linens, we offer fabrics to suit every season and style. Many are exclusive to us here in Glasgow. Your suit should start with a cloth you love — and we’ve got plenty to choose from.
Our bespoke suits start from around £850, depending on your fabric choice and customisations. Every suit is tailored from scratch, so pricing reflects the craftsmanship and materials. If you’re looking to buy a bespoke suit in Glasgow, we’ll walk you through the best options for your budget.
Not at the moment. Our suits are fully bespoke and made to measure, which means we need to see you in person for fittings. We believe that’s the only way to deliver the quality and fit we’re known for in Glasgow.
Our made-to-measure kilts start at £525, while a full outfit begins at £1,300. Pricing can vary depending on your chosen options, and our team is always available to guide you through the best combination for your style and budget.
Every kilt we make uses 100% worsted wool, woven in either a medium (13oz) or heavy (16oz) weight depending on your chosen tartan and mill. This ensures high quality and durability for every garment.
The heavier 16oz kilt uses a denser wool, making it slightly thicker and weightier than the 13oz option. Both weights offer a traditional look, so the choice mainly comes down to personal comfort and feel.
For light freshening, use a fabric spray and gently steam with an iron – but never place the iron directly on the fabric. For stains or deeper cleaning, take your kilt to a dry cleaner experienced in handling wool kilts; never wash a kilt in a machine.
All our garments – kilts, jackets, and full outfits – are made to order by experienced kiltmakers. Depending on the season, standard kilts typically take 6–8 weeks, handmade kilts around 10–12 weeks, and complete outfits up to 14 weeks. Once your order is placed, we’ll confirm timelines and keep you informed of any updates along the way.
The Prince Charlie outfit is a timeless choice for formal occasions like weddings. Argyll and Glen Orchy outfits have a more contemporary black tie feel, while our Ghillie Shirt outfit offers a relaxed look – ideal for weddings in warmer climates.
Our kilt packages include everything you need except for the shirt and tie. You’ll receive a kilt, jacket, waistcoat, sporran and chain strap, socks, ghillie brogues, flashes, sgian dubh, and kilt pin. You can also customise or upgrade individual items for an additional charge.
Macgregor and MacDuff’s exclusive Mist range is available to hire and includes tartans like Islay Mist, Arran Mist, Harris Mist, Lomond Mist, Oban Mist, and Silver Mist. In addition, we offer seven other hire tartans in a variety of colours including Blackwatch, Modern MacKenzie, Scotland Forever, Blue Ramsey, Hunting MacGregor, Highland Granite, and Hebridean Heather – plus, we also provide a flexible hire option that lets you select from over 4,000 tartans typically reserved for purchase.
We offer seven jacket options for hire, covering both modern and classic styles. These include contemporary tweeds such as Arran, Tarbert, Lomond, and Glen Orchy, as well as traditional black Argyll jackets (with or without a waistcoat) and the Prince Charlie, available with a 3- or 5-button waistcoat.
There’s no security deposit required at the time of booking, but your authorisation is needed to cover any lost or damaged garments unless you’ve taken out Accidental Damage Waiver. Individual hires must be paid for at the time of measuring, and wedding party balances are due four weeks before collection.
We require two forms of ID. One must be photographic (either a valid passport or driving licence), and the other must confirm your address within the last three months – such as a bank or utility bill, either printed or digital.
We recommend booking your outfit at least 12 weeks ahead of your event to ensure tartan and sizing availability. You’ll also have a chance to recheck your measurements around four weeks before the big day. While we can handle last-minute bookings – even on the day of your event – they depend on stock availability and may incur a rush fee.
Yes, all hires must be booked in advance. During your appointment, you’ll try on a sample kilt and jacket for sizing purposes, although the tartan you choose won’t be available to try on at that stage.
Not directly with us – but online kilt hire is available through our sister company, MacGregor and MacDuff Kiltmakers.
Our standard hire period is four days. If you’re collecting from one of our shops, your outfit will be ready two days before your event. For postal hires, we aim to deliver at least four days in advance to give you time to try everything on and request any changes if needed.
Yes, extended hires are available for an additional 10% per day beyond the initial four-day hire. Just speak to our team for a quote tailored to your hire length.
If an item is lost, stolen, or damaged (outside of Accidental Damage Waiver cover), the cost will be charged to the hirer. Heavy soiling may result in a cleaning fee of up to £20, and in severe cases, we may require full replacement costs. Unreturned hires may be escalated to debt collection.
Our sizes range from toddler outfits starting at 18 months up to adults with a 60” waist or chest. Fit may vary depending on the style, so if you’re outside these measurements, visit us in store and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Absolutely. You can rent individual components such as a jacket, waistcoat, or kilt, as well as accessories like sporrans, belts, or brogues.
