Our London Experience – Exploring Sustainability at the Future Fabrics 2025 Expo

EXTERIOR-SELFIE

At SETT, tailoring has always been about more than just the cut of a suit. It’s about the journey behind each garment — from the very first stitch to the final fitting. This year, we took that thinking to London for the Future Fabrics 2025 Expo, an event that opened our eyes to the possibilities (and responsibilities) of sustainable fashion.

For us, it wasn’t just about fabrics; it was about gaining a deeper understanding of how our garments come to life, and how we, as a young tailoring company, can take steps towards a more transparent and responsible future.

The Expo Experience

The Expo itself ran for two days and was packed with inspiration. Walking through the halls, we discovered fabrics and techniques that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in tailoring and fashion. From recycled fibres and organic cottons to innovative production methods that reduce water and energy usage, it became clear that sustainability doesn’t mean compromise — it can mean creativity.

One highlight was speaking with Herbal Fab, a supplier which we hope to one day work alongside. Seeing their fabrics up close and learning about their ethical production processes reinforced our excitement about collaborating with them in the near future. These conversations reminded us that the choices we make as a tailoring brand have an impact far beyond our Glasgow store!

Learning From The Best

While the Expo was the starting point of our London trip, it definitely wasn’t the end. We spent the rest of the week visiting some of the most respected tailoring houses in the world, including those along Savile Row. For us, this was a chance to see how the best of the best operate — not just in terms of craftsmanship, but also client experiences.

Some of our highlights were Gieves and Hawkes and Drakes. Gieves and Hawkes is one of the oldest and most prestigious houses on the Row, they offer classic British tailoring with an air of formality.

Drakes is not a traditional tailor but a modern British brand known for luxury accessories, soft tailoring and shirting. Excellently providing a mixture of British charm, Ivy League prep and Italian ease.

Our trip truly helped highlight the importance of balancing tradition with innovation: learning from those who have been mastering the craft for generations, while also carving our own path forward.

The Takeaway

Our week in London showed us that sustainability and tailoring can go hand in hand. By exploring innovative fabrics, engaging with ethical suppliers, and learning from world-renowned tailoring houses, we’re taking SETT forward with fresh perspective and renewed purpose.

For our clients, this means more than just a well-fitted suit. It means a garment with a story — one stitched with care, transparency, and respect for both tradition and the future.

At SETT, we’re not just tailoring for today. We’re tailoring for tomorrow and we cannot wait to take you along with us.
